First day of school :/

Yep. Today was the first day of school at a new school for me, but I will tell you more about that later.  First, Food!!

Surprisingly, I have been making some pretty good dishes in this teeny tiny kitchen in our apartment.  By the way, I really miss my gas cooktop!!!

Mixed green salad with strawberries, almonds, pistachios, and topped with shredded chicken and ginger vinaigrette
close up
salmon burger atop spaghetti with yogurt-dill sauce.  And yes, that is a hot dog bun toast.  Out of bread ;)
Seared sushi grade Ahi tuna on spinach with baguette.  GREAT!
This weekend was really great!!  My last weekend of summer, and I made it a great one :)  The main thing that happened is that I got a new cycling team!  Now, It is bittersweet because I can't thank Mario enough for my wonderful experience at M.O.B squad, but at the same time I am glad to be settled with a team I am happy with here in town.  I rode on Saturday and met a lot of riders, a lot of which were on the team I was interested in.  Then I talked to their team director and rode with him on Sunday and got on the team!  I am excited to be a part of team Bicycle Haus :)  And, the team director also is into coffee just like me!  I talked to him about LUX, it came up somehow, and he knew it!  He said I haven't lived here long enough to find out about LUX yet :)  AND, he is a foodie!  He told me that Pane Bianco, which is right next to LUX is owned by the same guy who started Pizzeria Bianco!  (Considered one of the best Neapolitan pizza in the nation!)  He seems like an awesome guy :)

Ok, first day of school shall we?

Well, it was pretty good.  I like my classes and my teachers.  The only thing is the kids are a bit different than I am used to.  But I think I will get used to it in time, it has only been a day after all ;)

I don't know, it is probably my problem that I didn't really meet anyone today.  I just don't talk much!  So therefore, I ate alone and didn't meet many people :/  But, I think that with time it will get better.  Any advice?  I know I need to talk to people, but I just don't know if we have ANYTHING in common!   :\

Well, Wish me luck tomorrow, I am confident I will meet more people :)

Have a fantastic day tomorrow!!!!!!

Scott

  3. Yea, like becca said, totally normal to not be 100 percent confident with a gazillion new friends on the first day. You all live in the same area and go to the same school-thats two things in common to start. Even so, you'll find as classes start and school gets going, youll make friends, good luck on the new biking team. xx

  5. Hiya there Scott!
Let me start by saying those eats look amazing!! I love ahi tuna, yum! <3

I'm so glad you already met your new team and that you're excited about it; it sounds like so much fun! And so does the director! XD

And about the meeting people, I totally get it! I tend to be a bit shy around people at first, but then it all just simply goes away. I know it may sound like a cliche, but be yourself! It really works when one is much more relaxed and easygoing ;) Hope you had a good one!

  6. OH my goodness, back to school already?!? Poor you!

I love moving, BUT HATE that first day of school! I always stand in the cafeteria with no idea where to go... that was the case when I moved to Germany, when I moved to NJ, and it will probably be the case at my new school this year, too!
The good news is that I ended up making friends in each new school, even though it took a few weeks. You will, too! The best thing that you can do is to reach out to someone in your classes that you seem to have something in common with. Then, ask if you can sit with him or her during lunch because you are new. Chances are they will be more than willing. Plus, they will probably ask you lots about where you used to live, and you can ask them any questions about the town and school.
Mostly, just be open to talk and meet new people. If all goes wrong, well... you will always have bloggies! ;)

  7. I'm glad that you had a pretty good first day of school, Scott :) I'd love to be able to give you some wise advice on how to meet new people, but I'm not exactly that great when it comes to socializing either... I'm really quiet as well, and kind of tend to keep to myself... which is something we shouldn't do! You're a great person with a lot to offer, so don't be afraid to talk to others, because they'll love you when they get to know you
